Grandstream's Free Softphone App Now Available on iOS

Softphones have garnered considerable support as the ideal business communication solution due to their unprecedented flexibility, inexpensiveness and ease of upgrade. Organizations that elect to take advantage of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and softphone technology have the ability to embrace mobile and international workforces, cut ties with traditional phone companies and eliminate the need for physical hardware and infrastructure.

Grandstream Networks, a company specializing in IP voice and video telephony, video conferencing and video surveillance products, offers a free softphone application called Grandstream Wave that has made significant inroads in the industry. The app supports incoming and outgoing SIP calls over Wi-Fi or 2G/3G/4G networks, and is compatible with a substantial range of third-party SIP-based communications platforms. One of the most compelling features of the product is that it can be customized and seamlessly integrated with the communications data and interface of a user’s device.

“Grandstream Wave offers users business communications transparency with the ability to make and receive SIP calls on a smartphone,” said David Li, CEO of Grandstream Networks. “Productivity extends well beyond the confines of the business office with mobility now required 24x7. With Grandstream Wave, users can stay connected to their PBXs anytime, anywhere using nearly any device."

Grandstream Wave was first launched in 2015 with support for Android smartphones and tablets, but this week Grandstream Networks finally announced availability of the app for iOS devices. Furthermore, the Android version of the app now includes support for 2-way video calls based on the SIP and H.264 video codec, a necessary expansion of the product’s capabilities to match the demand of customers who expect seamless and intuitive video communications.

Smartphones are a central part of the consumer lifestyle, and are increasingly becoming more important in the workplace as various types of functionality become virtual and the devices themselves become more capable. Softphone apps indicate the next generation of business communications, and with the expanded inclusion of video conferencing in products such as Grandstream Wave it is almost inconceivable why an organization would not move forward and embrace the technology. The company will exhibit Grandstream Wave and its other cutting-edge communications products at TMC’s ITEXPO in Fort Lauderdale next week, where it is also a Platinum sponsor of the event.
