Alain Sturzenegger

Alain Sturzenegger
Co-founder & CEO

Alain Sturzenegger, a serial entrepreneur as a lifelong explorer of software-enabled capabilities in communications services, is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of utribo . utribo is a Swiss company that develops natural rich voice and video over IP communications solutions for Internet communities and websites. Prior to launching utribo, Sturzenegger founded and ran eyeP Media, which focused on voice over IP solutions for telecom services providers, ISPs, cable and systems integrators. Sturzenegger started tinkering in software programming at 12 and earned a degree in electro-technical engineering just as deregulation of telecoms was sweeping across Europe. That deregulation created a fertile environment for software-based innovations and spawned a wave of new communications services operators anxious to leverage innovation to gain footholds versus incumbent carriers. After spending several years as a developer of applications for a company that provided data communications between ATMs and host computers, Sturzenegger founded his first services company, a software engineering consultancy, in the early days of LAN communications for business users. Next came Media Phonics, a startup he co-founded in 1995 with the backing of Swiss and French investors that developed signal-processing capabilities for linking hardware and software in telecom and computer systems. Meantime, Sturzenegger remained fascinated with the possibilities of delivering IP-based voice and video applications to independent operators and services providers and that led to the founding of utribo
