 Bob Metcalfe Announced as the Keynote Speaker for StartupCamp4: Comms Edition!
Bob Metcalfe (inventor of ethernet, founder of 3Com, author of Metcalfe's Law, VC and Professor) will be at StartupCamp in Austin this September!
Bob Metcalfe is Professor of Innovation in the Cockrell School of Engineering at UTexas Austin and a Polaris Venture Partner. He was an Internet pioneer in 1970 at MIT and Harvard, receiving a PhD in Computer Science. Bob invented Ethernet in 1973 at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center. In 1979, he founded 3Com Corporation. Bob was for 10 years a General Partner of Polaris and serves on boards of five startups: 1366, Ember, IPS, SiOnyx, and Sun Catalytix. For the 10 years before Polaris, he was a publisher-pundit at IDG. In 2005, Bob received the National Medal of Technology.

Companies developing products or services that enable, or that are enabled by communications technologies such as voice, SMS and video will be considered. Participating companies should be less than three years old, and should be privately or angel-funded. Up to five startups will be selected to give high-level, five-minute "pitch" presentations at the event.
