Irv Shapiro: CEO/CTO, Ifbyphone:

Irv has spent over 30 years driving technology innovation with a focus on data communications and networking. Irv began his career writing custom VAX/VMS device drivers for Digital Equipment Corporation, then founded Metamor Technologies, a two-time INC 500 award recipient, followed by Edventions, an elementary school infrastructure company. Following the sale of Edventions he founded Ifbyphone and developed its proprietary VoiceXML generation technology.

  • "We expanded our international sales with new customers in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Belgium. We will have French, German, Dutch and Spanish speaking ALICE Receptionist available in our next product update, scheduled for January 2014."
  • "We closed our best months of sales ever in October and November. We are on track for December to follow suit and with a full sales pipeline which are looking at a strong start for 2014."

The Biggest Challenge ALICE Receptionist has Faced:
"One of the biggest challenges has been helping people visualize our product working in their work environment. This is a challenge because there is no point of reference with similar products. Ours is the first product to tie VoIP Sip communications, both audio and video, with interactive touchscreen devices to connect office workers with visitors on an interactive device that also serves as an information source."

Solution:
"Once customers see ALICE in action, they get it. To address this challenge we've redesigned our website (www.alicereceptionist.com) a number of times till we found a design that works. We've produced a few videos and provide on-line demos. Providing businesses all these media options when they are doing their research has been helpful."

What does ALICE Receptionist have planned for the next year?

  • "We will be growing sales and distribution specifically in North America, Europe and Australia but anticipate expansions into other international markets as well."
  • "We’ll be adding additional resellers and distribution channel partners to continue to expand our products reach to a broad global market."
  • "We anticipate the adoption of webRTC in our product over the next 12 months will introduce new possibilities for how businesses use our product to communicate with customers."

"Our biggest challenge was breaking one of the founders off so they could become our CEO. We are about to announce that Thomas McCarthy Howe is our CEO."

"We see the market for messaging growing and we see the need for over the top services like ours growing. As more companies text enable their toll free numbers, we see a tipping point coming where people will simply expect toll free number to receive texts."
