In this role I have the opportunity to meet with executives and business managers who have interest in leveraging social software in their organizations. Some are just starting out while others are well on their way. And in every case these conversations have provided me with a broad exposure to the practical and business relevant impact that social software is having on todays businesses. While these topics can be complex, I enjoy using conversational and story-telling approaches to relate to non-technical audiences. I enjoy sharing my experiences and observations in conferences, workshops and through social communities and blogs. Ive been blessed with over 30 years of experience in the social and document management industry and have served in sales, support, consulting and document production management positions. I came to IBM in 2004 through a Business Partner acquisition (so I know the value and impact of partners) I served as VP of Marketing (so I know the value of good messaging) I was a Director of Operations (so I know the concerns of day to day operations) I was a Business Consultant (so Im familiar with listening). I was a Technical Sales Specialist (so I know the importance of good technology). I was a Director of Workflow, Imaging and Doc Mgmt at a large insurance company and a Production Manager for Technical Publications at a large aerospace company (so I know the challenges of designing, implementing and maintaining production systems). I was a Systems Analyst (so I know good code...and bad code...and the importance of usability) I was a Graphic Artist (so I tend to think in simple visual terms). This broad range of experiences has resulted in providing me with a valuable perspective of both client and company needs. So I enjoy a good business level conversation.
